Queremos Pastel

We went to a spanish wedding at the chapel this last week and it was awesome. This couple was getting married, then they got baptized two days later on sunday.

The reason the title of the post is “Queremos Pastel,” is because while we were at the reception, when they were about to cut the cake, everyone started singing this song “queremos pastel, pastel, pastel.” It’s apparently, and across the board culturally among hispanics, a song that is sung at weddings when it’s time to eat the cake. “Queremos Pastel,” means “We want cake.” Cool, huh? We danced around in congo line while they sang/played the song several times. The missionaries said they had never been to a crazier party.

We also danced real latin style after eating cake. All the church members were super excited that we danced too. They kept telling us they’re going to make us hispanic before we leave the branch. I learned how to dance this one dance called the merengue–I was told to pretend I was in the line to go to the bathroom and move my feet up and down. It was good advice.

Comments are in the captions with the pictures.

  1. That is a nice setup by the Relief Society! I think you should make a recording of how the Queremos Pastel song goes, Tonya!
