Happy New Year!

Yay we had company for New Year’s! My sister and her new fiance flew out to Philly to visit my brother’s family for a couple days, and then all 5 of them–sister, fiance, brother, wife, and daughter–drove down to celebrate New Year’s Eve with us. We pushed all of our furniture to the sides to make room for everyone, and even though it was still a tight fit, we all had a good time.

I’m definitely not one to stay up late, in fact most all of us were struggling to make it to midnight, but with the help of Monk and some crazy mad libs (see previous post) we were all awake to drink martinelli’s to the ball dropping in New York.

Then we went to bed.

New Year’s Day we took everyone up to Jacob’s campus to see how cool it is and to walk around the lake and watch the waterfowl, which included very loud and greedy ducks and geese. We also went to Carytown near downtown to see all the shops, but the place was surprisingly dead. I mean, come on, who closes their stores on New Year’s Day.

Before my sister and her fiance left we made sure to hold a coronation ceremony designating them as duke and duchess of Lovey-Dovey Land, where Brent and Jenny are king and queen, Jacob and I are prince and princess and baby Julia of course is supreme ruler.

  1. Tonya and Jacob! Thanks for posting all these pictures! They are great. Someday I will sort out my pictures and share them too. It was fun to see you.

  2. I am glad you all were able to spend a holiday together. We missed all of you here too. We had fun staying up late and playing Scrabble, Set and another game with Claire Breakwell. We went out into the streets to blow our horns and wear our New Year’s hats and were the only people out on the street . It was sad to be alone, yet still fun to ring in the New Year. We had sparklers to light, but didn’t do them until Sunday, Jan 17!
So Happy, Happy New Year to all.
