Ketchup

So it’s been a month since we posted last. I figured we’d need to play a little ketchup in order to fill you in on the story of our lives in the last month, and what better way to tell a story than by pictures…

Thank goodness for parents who give us child entertainment kits including Memory game…which also happens to entertain us

This is the law firm that offers pro bono immigration clinics that we’ve volunteered at as interpreters (the clinic isn’t at this building though)

the amazing summer Greek festival. Food, food, and more food. And heat. Luckily we escaped it for awhile by going inside and getting a neat tour of the Greek Orthodox church

After the Greek festival we decided to take a drive down Monument Avenue

Can you guess why it’s called Monument Avenue?

Decided to follow Brent & Jenny’s example of themed dates, and did an “Ocean Date” starting with a swim in the pool

then some oceany clam chowder with ocean sounds playing on itunes

and a lovely display of ocean pictures. We practically felt like we were scuba diving

We finished off the evening watching several episodes of Mysteries of the Deep

Our neighbors invited us to their daughter’s princess birthday party

This lady’s awesome. We met at the party

Baby shower! Yay! (She just had her baby this week)

Calvin’s 2nd birthday party..and Erin going amazing on the themed decorations as usual. Yep, she made that sandcastle cake and everything else on the table, even after giving birth to their 2nd child 2 weeks earlier

we went to University of Virginia afterwards and ate dinner on the lawn

we decided to make a surprise visit to Philly to see my brother’s family! Behold the skinny streets in Philadelphia

I love this decoration Jenny put on their wall. I don’t know why we didn’t take any more pictures of the people we love

Luckily, after leaving Philly we didn’t have to wait long to see them again, because they came down for the weekend of the Fourth

we made record time on snarfing all the food down, it was so good

after a long and fun game of apples to apples (we had to play until Jacob got 8), here are the verdicts on our personalities, left to right: Tonya, Jacob, Jenny, Brent

random but cool sunset. we drove around the neighborhood for awhile trying to find a spot where we could see the huge red sun without the trees in the way

Jacob thought our car looked space-age-ish here so he took a picture of it

Yesterday we went with a young man for his first time through the temple before his mission

Tonya, I like the picture with a smiley face squirted on your back. It reminds me of when we were in Mexico and we came back from the bus and you had a smiley face on your back, but it was from sweat. 🙂 I enjoyed all the pictures.

Yay a new post! Love the ocean date. Those moms created great parties, wow. Thanks for coming to visit us and letting us visit you. It was such a good trip. Love the pictures…I’m stealing a lot. 🙂 Anyone up for another game-playing, swim-taking, speed-eating trip?
