Our Thanksgiving

We had a great time over Thanksgiving with Brent, Jenny and Julia visiting us here in Richmond. Our apartment was small cozy and we had lots of fun.

We went to this place called Maymont, ate lots of food (the missionaries came for that part too), ate lots of pie and played lots of games. Oh, and we can’t forget how awesome the lights were at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. But we wouldn’t want you to miss anything, so pictures are below.

This is a turtle. The first thing we did with Brent Jenny and Julia is go to Maymont Park. They had this wildlife center there as well.

He was hiding his face. (Jacob turned the computer to me to write the captions from now on)

The rockclimbing was strenuous but we made it

there was a petting zoo up over the hill that we didn’t have time for. next time…

Maymont is the property of a rich family that had a mansion here. We couldn’t go on the mansion tour but we did tour the servants quarters below, which was very interesting and made us so grateful for all the modern stuff we have

One building inside the gardens had a library with lots of dollhouses on display. Julia liked the books.

Julia was mesmerized by the model train room. I admit we were pretty mesmerized too

this man gave a Christmas concert playing a glass armonica, the forgotten invention of Ben Franklin. it sounds like rubbing your fingers on a glass. pretty neat.

I swear these are lollipops but Jacob thinks they are turnips. Who would grow turnips in a garden? Lollipops is where it’s at.

one day at work this week I decided to take a picture out of every window in the car during lunch.

i always take lunch in the car to get away–you can’t get away from work and take a real break if you’re still on the premises

beyond that tree on the other side of the parking lot is the mighty freeway i-95

the whole branch is invited including the men

the men can’t escape the crazy games they come up with for baby showers

in this case, seeing how many clothes can he pin up in a minute while talking on the phone and holding the ‘baby’

then the women show up the men doing double the work and dancing at the same time

the mama and papa of honor both had to be blindfolded while feeding each other

Katy and Gerardo will be awesome parents. she’s due in January

You guys are great at posting pictures. It’s fun to see what you did for Thanksgiving.

So I hear Jacob is applying for jobs after this semester–are you looking for a summer internship somewhere? Where would you like to go?

Jacob and Tonya give us too much credit – and forgot to mention the amazing food they put together. And next year we’re going to deep fry the turkey!

Looks like you guys had a great Thanksgiving! Love that baby shower game. I might have to copy that one sometime… So, do you know your baby’s gender yet? I find out in 2 weeks!
