The Tingens

Shameless Plug

So back in January I made a post about how I write books in my spare time. “Do law students have spare time?” you ask. Well, occasionally I find some.

Anyway, now that I’ve let my book sit for a bit and done some revisions after some tips from friends and family who have read it, I’ve decided to submit my book to agents, publishers, etc. But I don’t want to submit my story just willy nilly to anybody without any other proper preparation. I’ve done my research.

For the past year I’ve been following several editors, agents, and publishers on their blogs and websites looking for tips and scraps of info. But one thing I do know, they are all worried about this digital thing–from e-books to websites. Some publishers will reject a book solely because an author doesn’t have a strong web presence. Crazy, huh?

Anyway, to make sure my web presence is strong, I’m using a pen name (don’t want to confuse my writing audience with my law job prospects) and I set up a website at jacobwroteit.com. Thinking of Jacob Grimm for my pen name. Anyway, I would appreciate it if you could go, read, and make comments on the blog posts, post the new website in your facebook and twitter feeds, tell friends, link to www.jacobwroteit.com and did I mention comment on the story posts.

I’m also looking for some honest (yet positive) quotes for my front page. I know none of you are known in the publishing industry or anything, but something agents and editors always ask first time novelists is, “Has anybody else read this before you sent it to me?” If they visit my website and there are quotes from people that have read my stuff, the answer to that question should be apparent.

Thanks for reading this far down the post. Thank you for supporting me in this crazy endeavor. For those of you who didn’t get a chance to read the book, I’ll post it here for a couple of days so you can download it, print it, share it. Download_Wishes_Revision_2. You should also know that sample chapters from a new book and other stuff is over on my new website that I think is pretty fancy schmancy. Thanks a bunch,

Jacob

  1. Wow Jacob! This is great networking, I’ll tell people about it and scrape up some time to read what you have written. I am excited to read more!
