The Tingens

She’s still in there!

This is me after carrying Natalie around for 22 weeks aka 5 1/2 months. Just kidding, the black shirt with the arms behind the back gave a good optical illusion of making me look bigger than I am.

I must say I feel pretty bendecida to have had such a low-key pregnancy, with no real morning sickness, no swelling, nothing very uncomfortable or unusual. We went for the ultrasound this week and found out she weighs about a pound–a poundful of joy! November 18 was the first day I could identify any real movement, and it’s been exciting ever since! I haven’t noticed any pattern; sometimes there’s a lot of pow pow kicking/punching and sometimes there’s nothing. Last night before falling asleep I swear she must have been having a battle with somebody in there. And it seemed like her head was right near the surface because I could definitely feel something hard–because, as I told Jacob, heads are like that.

I mentioned to Jacob something from my conversation with my mission president’s wife today. She said that she has a grandbaby due in May, and she said, You know I bet both of them are running around in heaven together all excited getting ready to come down.

Then Jacob made his own version of what goes on in heaven (put his version of a high voice in your mind):

Hey, where did you get your call?

I’m going to the Tingens!

Oh! I heard they’re strict (I guess Jacob’s decided that’s how we’ll be…?).

Anyway, we’re pumped to have Natalie comin round the mountain. Or as Jacob just said it, Comin round the mountain. Of your belly. Don’t know where any of that came from. No wonder Jacob’s parents think we’re zany.

Merry Christmas!

  1. Those pictures do look very different. I guess it is all in the arms. If you were sitting down we probably wouldn’t notice anything-everyone looks a little pudgy when they sit down. There is this girl in our ward who only had a tiny bump until she was two months away from giving birth. Anyway, enough about stomach size. You should make a comic book about what Natalie is doing, complete with illustrations. There can be battles, heavenly moments, and whatever else you think she is up to.

  2. Optical illusions…?! You must have watched the Reading Rainbow episode on optical illusions. Just wait, maybe you will get to 7 months and just pop right out! That is how Libby McCarthy was this last summer. May be Natalie will do the splits and get her long feet stuck in your ribs. You used to do that on occasion.
So many things to look forward to.
    Have fun in Georgia.

  3. I second Heidi’s idea of a comic book. The comics you gave me for my 20th birthday was undoubtedly one of the coolest presents I’ve ever gotten (which is saying something, because I usually get spoiled pretty bad). It’d be awesome to see a Natalie comic book.

  4. Ha, ha. Comin’ round the mountain for sure! I’m so excited for you guys and to meet little Natalie. Pretty soon our Thomas will have to bid her farewell and make his own way down here to the Washburn family. Just two weeks left!
