The Tingens

Why do they call it fast sunday when it always goes so slow?

That’s what I always think on fast sundays because I get hungry. really hungry.

But today we had a really cool experience with our fast. We decided to fast for the missionaries and the investigators they’re working with. We fasted for help for the missionaries and the work they were doing.

When we went to church the sister missionaries told us they couldn’t drive out by themselves because of the snow. The mission president didn’t want missionaries to be driving around on the icy roads and getting in to trouble. So he had told the missionaries that they could go out today if they had members take them. So the sisters asked if we could take them around.

I just thought that was so funny. Here we are fasting for the missionaries to get help with the missionary work, and the Lord was like, “Well, go help them yourself.” We had a great time, visited several people and had what I would have a called a good day on my mission. We taught like 6 lessons in three hours. I felt like we were really helping and that our prayers had been answered. Fasting is like that sometimes.

I’ve had a couple of really good fasting experiences in the past, and this one makes the story list for me–something I’ll probably be able to draw on for a talk or something in the future.
