Bustling

So somehow a conversation with Jacob about having a balanced life turned into a conversation about a fat medieval chef in a large medieval kitchen ordering around a lot of bustling cooks preparing lots of food for lots of rich people.

Kind of funny story how that came about, but it raised an interesting question: what image does the word ‘bustling’ evoke?

Apparently Jacob thinks of fat people in an ancient medieval castle.

I personally think about a place like New York.

  1. Of course it all depends on the sentence the word is used in. It is often used to describe cities, but when said as a single word I think of ladies with big dresses (Disney’s Cinderella style) rushing to get ready.

  2. Bustling reminds me of the cook in the kitchen in The Wheel of Time Series, who is very round and uses a wooden spoon for discipline.

Bustling concession stand time during half-time at a football game.

The bustling Christmas scenes-people with packages on the streets, the many service projects, little kids in the toy sections at stores, festivities in the air, smells, decorations, sometimes snow,,,,,,
