Megabus

It’s nice to have family within relatively close driving distance, even if that means driving by Megabus. Natalie and I took a Megabus trip up to visit my brother’s family in Philly while Jacob stayed home to crank out a giant law paper (amazing how much more effective he is when the wife and child are out of the house…:) ).

On the way back a lady sitting behind us was having several very loud phone conversations that seemed to have no other purpose than to kill time and fill space with loudness and cuss words. At first I was annoyed, but then I started to think about the lady and her life. I’m sure she has family she loves and cares about (she mentioned her grandbabies), and she has dreams for her future (I gathered that although she’s in her forties or fifties, she’s finishing up a semester of school somewhere). She’s living life the best she knows how. (One of her conversations involved giving advice to someone–“When dat happens, you just gotta cry it out, wipe yo face off and staht ovah da next day.”)

She’s a child of God just like everyone else. I wish the best for her.

  1. Cute! I don’t know that I would have had the courage to ride a bus by myself with just a baby. I’m glad you had fun and I hope Jacob got his paper done okay.

  2. Where is the Megabus from Utah to Philly? (or Virginia?) I want to go so much.

I’m glad the trip worked out for you and Natalie. For some reason, I’ve been craving a bus ride lately but a two hour ride to Salt Lake just doesn’t sound worth it.

    Cute pictures!

  3. Man, more adventures! Yes, autumn has been beautiful this year and the camera lens just doesn’t quite capture the intensity of the colors. Does your bus ride bring back any memories of your bus ride from Boston to SLC in 1988? Oops, you rode in 1988 and ended in 1989-hehe. since it was over Christmas vacation. That’s awesome that you and Jenny and Lori got to visit as well.
