Too many raisins in my raisin bran!

Life is hard, but it’s also good 🙂

So when I’m in blog mode, I often think about what my friend Lisa said about why we blog. Mostly Jacob and I just blog to let our families–and also any friends who may be interested as well–know how we’re doing since we’ve moved away (and somehow it’s so much easier to just put in a bunch of pictures in order to do that. That and I’ve become a documentation freak; for some reason I feel the need to document everything in our lives! Pictures, journals, etc.). It’s also fun and refreshing to write thoughtful, introspective posts every once in awhile. And I love when people make a short post posing an interesting question and letting lots of people give their opinion.

I know that blogs give an incomplete picture of how things really are; ours, for example, doesn’t include all our thoughts or calamities or struggles. For that reason maybe sometimes it seems to portray things as all rainbows and fun and hot dates when that’s not all there really is. But even though life is real and life is hard sometimes (not to mention the fact that all three of us have been stuck sick in the house all week! :)), when I sit down and think about it, our life is “pretty rad,” to use Jacob’s words. We really don’t have anything to complain about.

One time at the Orem apartment we poured ourselves some raisin bran for breakfast. Upon looking at his bowl, Jacob said “There’s too many raisins in my raisin bran!” As soon as we realized what he just said, we busted up laughing. Really? Complaining about too many raisins in our raisin bran? So now any time we catch ourselves complaining about something, we say “There’s too many raisins in my raisin bran!”

So here’s to the good life!

  1. You are right, this post was like going to the museum itself. Which is cool, because I always feel like I missed something when I didn’t go there in person. The sand-dollar pyramid is awesome. They should put something like that in a DC museum too. I am still a huge Faberge fan. He made some really intricate and delicate miniature carriages made out of pure gold that were in an exhibit in New Orleans once-1997.

And we get a peek into the lifestyle of the TNT Tingen household-so many bursts of creativeness, AND colorfulness. I think the green light and right arrow sign should have a caption of,”Only way to Heaven!” (meaning that turning right on a true path is the only way to get to heaven…..)

AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WE GET TO SEE YOUR FAMILY IN 10 DAYS!!!!

  2. Thanks for keeping us all updated. It’s fun to see what you guys do for fun (even if life isn’t all “hot dates, etc.”). Natalie is so cute and I wish we were in Utah so we could see you during your visit!

  3. Thanks for taking us through the museum, that was great! I really like the S4M53 one that you said you didn’t understand. Isn’t it funny how different art resonates with different people?
