Good to be thankful

It’s good to have an external stimulus for being thankful, aka Thanksgiving. There’s lots to be thankful for! For some reason I have been getting so stressed and depressed that the baby hasn’t come yet, even though it’s perfectly normal for a baby to be born around or after the due date, which isn’t even until Monday for Pete’s sake.

I think part of the reason is that at every OB appt recently the doctor is like, Wow, you’re 4 cm! That baby is low! I can’t believe she’s not born yet! How can you walk! I was expecting a call this weekend! I had several other women come in and have their babies this weekend! And then I get all worked up and anxiously anticipating labor to begin any minute, and then it doesn’t happen and I get all stressed and depressed.

Then I tell myself, why am I stressed and depressed? Plenty of people have a lot more to worry about than a baby that’s just enjoying being on the inside more than the outside for now! I think it’s just hormones.

I’m thankful to be me, I’m thankful for Jacob and Natalie, I’m thankful this pregnancy has gone so smoothly, I’m thankful Hazel will be here soon, I’m thankful Jacob has a job for now, I’m thankful for the gospel of Jesus Christ, I’m thankful we have Heidi and Eric in town to share Thanksgiving with (we’ll be content to look forward to seeing the rest of our family in December!).

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

  1. What a wonderful post to start the day! Thank you so much!

Yes, here is much to be thankful for. tongue-in-cheek: I was thinking yesterday about girl names that would be appropriate for a child born on thanksgiving day. These are a few that a friend and I came up with…Grace, Beatrice (something about the meaning of word was linked–he was an English major), Charity, Gratitude, Mercy.

    Thanks again!

  2. Hang in there! It is so hard waiting those last couple days. I hope she comes soon and that everything goes really well!!

  3. How ironic. You wrote this in the morning and Hazel was born that night. Congratulations!

P.S. It was great spending Thanksgiving Day with you guys!
