March for Marriage

A couple of weeks ago, one of Tonya’s friends mentioned how cool it would be to participate in the March for Marriage. We’d talked about going ever since and we decided to go and do it. There’s a pretty good summary of why the event was organized on the March for Marriage website:

On March 26th the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in the Perry case, which will determine if Proposition 8 – the citizens initiative approved by the people of California in 2008 to protect marriage – is constitutional or not. More importantly, the question of same-sex “marriage” and the right of Americans to protect marriage will be decided. We believe it is imperative that political leaders, the media, and the culture see that we care about protecting marriage enough to stand up and march for it.

So today, we drove up to the national mall, got inline and walked up the mall to the supreme court. Here are pictures, as well as a couple of recent family ones.

  1. I can’t believe we missed you!!!! I didn’t know that you were going or we could have met up. I think you made it for the cool beginning, where we made it for the tail end. You guys look like natural protestors, even Hazel!

  2. Wow, such political activists! And you caught the cherry blossoms, too! It will be interesting how the Court rules.

    Thanks for sharing!

  3. Hey, hey, hey you folks look very authentic having baby Hazel aboard to march!!!!! I was excited to hear that you folks had gone when Trina came home excited with the news that you folks had gone to DC to march. Yes, a good thing. And the crowds don’t look too wild and out of control.
Natalie had to participate with her own march, (symbolic) of marching around the house in her mama’s shoes and socks!
