The Tingens

KidMed, National Zoo

No we are not in Spain, yes we are still waiting for our visas. 🙂 The airbnb we’ve been at is the upstairs main portion of a house that also has an airbnb basement unit, while the host family has been out of town. They’re coming back this week and since we still don’t have our visas, we decided to book the downstairs for awhile more. Makes transferring luggage much easier 🙂 So another move tomorrow! The hosts have been so great and understanding, and have said they’d refund anything we didn’t use if we leave early because we get our visas.

Our adventure last week was KidMed, because Hazel had a sudden and severe onset of vertigo–dizziness, vomiting whenever she needed to move, not able to walk without reeling everywhere, overall miserable. Loads of fun! Very alarming, actually.

At KidMed they gave a couple meds and sent her home, and she just rested for a couple days. We really appreciated everyone’s prayers for her–she recovered very quickly! We’re still not sure what caused it, but we think it might have been from a viral infection.

The vertigo ruled out Busch Gardens and Water Country, where we’d previously thought about going since our season passes hadn’t expired yet.

Instead, when Hazel was well enough, we took a trip to the National Zoo downtown.

Full disclosure, for outings we sometimes bribe the kids to go along because sometimes there is a lot of resistance to the idea of being anywhere but home. So we made an alphabet zoo bingo and said once all four got a bingo we’d get ice cream. Way overpriced, but the lady was nice and gave Jacob, who hadn’t ordered anything, a free one because she had served a flavor we hadn’t asked for.

  1. SO fun! I love the national zoo (all zoos actually) and I ALSO want to pet a tiger! And hug a bear. So glad you guys are in Spain now!
