The Tingens

LuzMadrid

The weekend before Halloween we found out about an International Light Festival held in the city, called LuzMadrid. A bunch of artists from around the world create displays/shows using lights, sometimes including sound effects or music, in public areas throughout the city. It was only over the three nights of the weekend, and since Natalie had had a friend over Friday night and Saturday night was the Festival of Nations, we decided to go Sunday evening.

Unfortunately it was on and off raining, which was not ideal, and also there was no way we were going to be able to catch all of the displays because their locations were scattered throughout the city, but the couple displays we did manage to see were still impressive, as were the crowds that went to see them. We got to Retiro Park right at 8, which was the hour when everything started every night, and it was kind of a cool feeling being among the procession of people all headed in the same direction.

The rain actually made a really awesome effect for the show that was by the lake, with how the lights refracted and reflected through the raindrops (not sure if I’m using the right scientific terms lol).

The kids got very tired (the late hour, the walking and transportation-riding, the rain) but even with all their complaining, they were real troopers and we’re proud of them.
